Wawa
is located 227 km (144 miles) north of Sault Ste. Marie.
Regular bus service is provided by Greyhound
Canada. The community is also accessible via the Wawa Airport
with daily flights between Thunder
Bay and Sault
Ste. Marie provided by Bearskin Airlines.
THE GOOSE
Said to be the largest of its kind in the world, Wawa's most
recognizable symbol is the giant goose at the junction of Highway 17
and 101. Wawa takes its name from the Ojibway word meaning "wild
